Elaina Cohen sought to represent the UK Labour Party in an inner-city ward but says she was turned down by Labour councillor Mahmood Hussain. His reason: 'my Muslim members don't want you because you are Jewish'. She has lodged an official complaint; Hussain, a Muslim and former lord mayor of Birmingham, denies the report.
