Iraq, five years on
After Congressional testimony by General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker unleashed innumerable articles lamenting the invasion of Iraq five years ago, decrying its cost and counting the days until the United States withdraws, you might be surprised to know that other views exist. MEMRI has excerpted several articles by Arab liberals that emphasize a new sense of hope in Baghdad, despite all the problems; acknowledge the value of liberalism and democracy; and express gratitude to the United States for toppling Saddam.
